East of the Sun, West of the Moon is a sculptural work made from over one-hundred metres of white silky fabric, which is systematically twisted and knotted, whilst tightly braided artificial hair weaves throughout the entwined fabric.

The work speaks to the cliched fairy-tale, romantic imagery of an epic passage; invoking bedsheets or the hair of Rapunzel the cascading rope of hair and fabric provides a potential means of dramatic entry or escape.

Spanning two-floors, a sense of height is crucial to East of the Sun, West of the Moon, as it actively uses space to suggest at a momentum leading towards something whilst at the same time it is visibly redundant- one end of the work is a dense pile of firmly knotted hair and fabric, whilst in contrast the other is a relaxed flourish of soft fabric.
