Armour for an Empress is a sculptural garment made from woven Christmas tree tips- the artificial tree cuttings intertwine to make a cloak, presented on a female mannequin body.

An over-sized hood and train give the cloak fairy-tale characteristics; the cloak is both elegant and majestic, yet its heavy, prickly material and the way it wraps around the body give a sense of protection or armour to the potential wearer. Notions of visibility and invisibility in relation to the female body are present in the work as the material holds the promise of camouflage, however the artificial tree firs are jarring against their natural counterparts.
