Winter of the Heart is a sculptural installation work exploring the female body in relation to the fairy-tale landscape. The work depicts an expanded fantasy landscape- Christmas trees work alongside drawings of dense fir trees to suggest at a forest whilst tight, braided hair cascades from the features in the scene and an over-sized full moon illuminates the twilight. The piece takes cues from theatre staging and museum dioramas; it presents a suspended landscape which has the potential to be a site of performance.

Elements of both the female body and the natural landscape are recognisable in the work, however there is a distinct absence of a physical body or natural materials. Rather artificial substitutions are used as a means to explore a consumerist aesthetic whereby stand-ins, devoid of imperfections, are used to suggest at and replace organic forms.
